About the landmark

The Merchants' Bridge (Krämerbrücke) is the longest bridge in Europe that is continuously lined with inhabited houses. First mentioned in 1117 as a wooden bridge on the Via Regia, it has been made of stone since 1325. Today, 32 half-timbered houses with shops, workshops and flats line its roughly 120 metres.
